U. S. Rep. Collin Peterson is the only Democrat in Minnesota’s congressional delegation holding out against starting an impeachment proceeding against President Donald Trump. Peterson was quoted saying that any proceeding without bipartisan support will be lengthy and divisive with no resolution.
“If anyone thinks a partisan impeachment process would constrain President Trump, they are fooling themselves. Without significant bipartisan support, impeachment proceedings will be a lengthy and divisive action with no resolution,”
Peterson has long represented the sprawling 7th Congressional District of Minnesota. It’s sharply conservative territory that went strongly for Trump in 2016. President Trump won Peterson’s district by over 30 points in 2016. Peterson maintained his seat in 2018 despite his opponent receiving an endorsement from the president.
