As we continue with Severe Weather Awareness Week, today Minnesota will highlight safety during tornadoes. Tornado Drills will happen today, April 15th, at 1:45pm & 6:45pm. It’s a great reminder to have a plan in place at work, home or even when you’re outside. Thinking ahead where you will take shelter and stocking up on an emergency supply kit will go a long way to keep you safe. Douglas county has a CODE RED system that issues alerts for severe weather. These are in addition to the notifications from the National Weather Service.

Great items for your emergency kit include:

A handheld radio

Purified Water

A First Aid Kit

Whistle

Back up phone charger
