Tesla Gets the Green Light for Production After Elon Musk Defies Shutdown Order

Elon Musk appears to have won his game of chicken with the state of California. After the Tesla founder threatened to move operations out of state and defied a shutdown order by restarting production on Monday, Alameda County announced early Wednesday that the automaker’s Fremont, California, plant will be able to start making vehicles this coming Monday. What that means for Musk, who basically dared local authorities to arrest him, remains to be seen, especially since the Fremont plant apparently continued to make cars on Tuesday, before it was legally authorized to do so.
