State Parks Offer Fireworks Free 4th For Veterans

The Minnesota Dept. of Natural Resources is offering state veterans and military personnel a “Fireworks-Free Fourth of July.” A DNR spokesperson said that not everyone enjoys the light and sound associated with fireworks, particularly some of our military service members. Minnesota state parks and recreation areas, including: Lake Carlos State Park in Douglas County, Glacial Lakes State Park in Pope County and Glendalough State Park in Otter Tail County, offer a firework-free environment for those who want to celebrate Independence Day in peace and quiet. State laws ban the use of fireworks in all 75 State Parks. According to the DNR website, active military personnel and veterans with a service-related disability are eligible to receive a free year-round State Park vehicle permit.
