A federal appeals court has reinstated a lawsuit filed by two St. Cloud filmmakers who want the right to refuse to film same-sex weddings. Carl and Angel Larsen say Minnesota’s public accommodation law would result in steep fines if they offer services that promote only their vision of marriage. In a 2-1 ruling, the court said that the videos are a form of speech subject to First Amendment protections. The state Department of Human Rights says it’s working with the attorney general’s office to explore its legal options after Friday’s decision from a panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
