San Diego Man Ticks Off Wife After Setting Unofficial Record by Eating Chick-Fil-A 114 Days in a Row

A San Diego man may have set the unofficial record for the most consecutive days spent eating at Chick-Fil-A, although it could cost him his marriage. Last week, Mark Mendenhall marked his 114th day in a row chowing down at the chicken restaurant (not counting Sundays, when the religious-minded chain is infamously closed). While there’s no known official record for his feat, Mendenhall decided to attempt it after learning about a guy in Georgia who ate at his local Chick-Fil-A for 100 consecutive days. “I thought to myself, ‘Huh, well, I could do that.’ So, I decided to start my challenge the very next day,” Mendenhall says. Speaking of challenging, his wife has found Mendenhall’s antics hard to tolerate–especially after he disappeared from a family trip to Disneyland so he could go to a Chick-fil-A for lunch. He later promised her he’d stop on the family’s next vacation. “So, my wife promptly planned a vacation to Palm Springs,” he says, “far enough away that I wouldn’t drive back but close enough so we didn’t have to fly anywhere.”
