So you’re double vaxxed but still single AF. Time to get back to love. That’s the thrust of a cheeky new music video that was a team-up between Match, some real-life wedding singers, and Ryan Reynolds‘ Maximum Effort production company.
The, er, marriage of the three resulted in “Get Back to Love,” an ad campaign featuring a song of the same name from Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Golden Globe Award-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, veterans of Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, and The Greatest Showman.
The spot features 12 wedding singers who were out of work when weddings became casualties of the pandemic lockdowns. But now, with the country opening back up and COVID-19 seemingly in the rear-view, the singers want you to get back in the game.
“You can even use a picture from 2019/Because we all look like hot messes/From getting through quarantine,” the lyrics declare. “Can you get back to love, so we can get back to work?” the performers implore in the chorus.
Reynolds says of the ad, “Maximum Effort, my company, we adore and love bringing people together. Obviously, Satan and 2020 brought people together in a slightly different way. Now we’re trying to bring people together with an all-time great song.” He’s referring of course to the viral Match ad that Reynolds co-produced, which tracked the romance between 2020 and Satan.
“Get Back to Love,” which was produced by Elton, Aretha, Mariah, Beiber and Beyoncé collaborator Harvey Mason Jr., features real-life wedding singers Anna, LaVance Colley, Char Fletcher, Mo Hebert, Scotty Isaacs, Quentin Moore, Mr. Chris Norton, Francisco Ruiz, Meredith Snyder, Dave Vives, Kelly Wolfgramm, and “ZZ” — who, the creative team notes, are all available for hire.
