Over 1 Million Apply for Minnesota ‘Hero Pay’

The State has surpassed the estimated hero pay applications by more than 400,000. The Department of Labor and Industry has reported 1,075,000 people have applied for the money. The application deadline is today at 5pm.

To thank those Minnesotans who worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 peacetime emergency, Gov. Tim Walz signed Frontline Worker Payments into law April 29, 2022, enabling those workers to apply for Frontline Worker Pay. Application dates are June 8 through July 22, 2022. Initially each person would receive up to $1,200, but that number will decrease if the number of viable applicants is greater than expected. The $500 million will be split equally between all of those that qualify.
