Osakis Home Lost in Fire

An Osakis home is a total loss after a fire. The The Osakis Fire Department responded to a house fire on County Road 4 east of Osakis on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 19. No one was home at the time. A passerby noticed smoke billowing from the home around 3:30pm. The snow covered driveway caused delay, a neighbor lent their snow blower to assist the emergency responders. Osakis Fire Chief Craig Dropik emphasizes how important it is to remove snow from driveways and around fire hydrants so that in an emergency, you can be accessed quickly. The cause of fire is being investigated.

The home was a rental property at 17695 County Road 4 east of Osakis. The two residents of the home are in contact with the American Red Cross for assistance.

Responding agencies included the Osakis Fire Department, the Long Prairie Fire Department and the Todd County Sheriff’s Office.
