Karen, who was nominated by her daughters!!

“My mother, Karen Mumm, is my best of friends. She truly embodies what mother hood means. Being the absolute best mother daily to 7 grown adults and an even better grandmother to her 14 grandchildren. She shows this love by connecting with all her kids almost daily. Phone calls and solving life’s moments. She is the best grandmother…plays cards, colors, gives kids rides to and from sports, hair cuts, whatever is needed to assist busy mothers but in the end her dedication to being the best mother but even a better grandmother.

She is the epitome of love, energy, kindness, pure joy and a zest for life that you will not find any where else. My favorite quote of my mother ‘I can’t wait to go to bed to start the day again tomorrow.’ Being one of the youngest of her siblings on a small rural farm in Thief River Falls, MN she was taught that life is what you make of it, not what is given to you.

Working her whole childhood life on her family farm she then married a farmer and worked even harder while raising a family of 7 children. She also waitressed in the town of Benson for nearly 25+ years. She truly loved her job of food service because she knows that a way to a person heart is through good food.

This woman can cook…and she can prove it (just ask). My siblings and I owe all our lives great many skills of hard work, courage, commitment and dedication to family, to our mother. I truly believe that if I can be half the woman she is, I will turn our pretty darn good. Cheers to the best woman on the earth, my mother Karen Mumm.
