Minnesota Veteran Wins Fight To Be Declared U. S. Citizen

A Minnesota man and military veteran whose request for a passport was twice denied has now been declared a U.S. citizen under a settlement with the State Department. Mark Esqueda, who grew up in the Marshall and Heron Lake area in the southwest part of the state, sued Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in May of this year, saying he was born in Texas in 1988, but the State Department denied him a passport. Under a settlement reached last Friday, the State Department acknowledges that Esqueda is a U.S. citizen.
