Minnesota is at a record high for crash related deaths this early in the year. April is distracted driving awareness month and is a serious safety issue, especially for teen drivers. Minnesota saw between 2016-2020 more than 39,000 crashes were distracted driving related. In 2020, distracted driving contributed to 2,612 injuries and 29 deaths.. The Safe Communities Coalition wants to remind everyone to do everything they can to eliminate distraction. Set your music, put your phone out of reach or go hands free before you begin to drive your vehicle. If you are a passenger, speak up to stop a driver from distracted actions.
