There was a great revival of Memorial Day ceremonies in Douglas County. This year’s Memorial Day ceremonies were more unifying compared to the virtual observances that COVID-19 last spring. Large crowds gathered early, hundreds greeting one another with handshakes or smiles not hidden by masks, grateful to celebrate together once again. Both Alexandria and Osakis held parades, prayer, guest speakers, patriotic songs and 21 gun salutes and commenced with the traditional playing of taps on the trumpet. Two families were honored with folded flags for their soldiers who died for their country in a touching ceremony. You can catch a video on our youtube page of one of yesterday’s ceremonies!
