The prize for tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to an astonishing $1 billion, the largest jackpot in the game’s history.

Tonight’s drawing will be at 10 pm Central Time, and should you decide to go for the cash option, you will win $565 million in cold, hard, cash.  Mega Millions is available to play in 44 states, plus Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

What are my odds of winning?

Your odds of winning the jackpot are one in 302,575,350.  But, hey, there’s gotta be a winner eventually, right?  Why not you? Now, granted, your odds of getting crushed by a vending machine (1 in 112,000,000) are better than winning, but you can’t win if you don’t play, right? And even if you do happen to win, your odds of an IRS audit are still 1 in 160, so be sure to report your winnings.

Good luck on tonight’s drawing if you’re playing.  In the meantime, watch out for rogue vending machines, and always snack responsibly.
