Man Injured in Crash in Osakis – Vehicle Takes Out Power Lines

Crash
On November 14, 2023 at 4:36 PM the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Shane Anthony Hoemberg, 37 of Sauk Centre, stating he was involved in a crash on County Road 82 SE and was bleeding. Accoriding to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Deputies located the crash site at the intersection of County Road 82 SE and Wildlife Loop SE. Hoemberg was traveling eastbound on County Road 82 in a 2017 Buick Encore and crossed over the westbound traffic lane and into the north ditch before striking a power pole and coming to rest on Wildlife Loop SE. Hoemberg received medical attention on scene for upper body pain from the Osakis First Responders and was then transported to Alomere Health ER by North Ambulance.
As a result of the crash there were power lines knocked down and laying across County Road 82 so traffic was diverted onto nearby roads until Runestone Electric removed the power lines. The Osakis Police Department assisted with traffic control and the Osakis Fire Department assisted with patient care and scene safety.
It is believed Hoemberg fell asleep while driving prior to the crash.
