Douglas County Public Information Officer Julie Anderson says we have some great “fall leaf viewing” areas right in our own backyard.
From terrific Tamarac to magnificent Maples, Douglas County Parks provide some of the best fall leaf viewing around.
Kensington Rune Stone Park has great viewing spots at the:
- Visitor Center
- Trail and overlook near Star Lake
- South overlook and boardwalk area
Spruce Hill Park has a bog running through the middle of the park which is filled with Tamarac that turn golden yellow in the fall.
Lake Brophy Wayside Park and the new Lake Brophy County Park offer awe-inspiring views from up high. Get a panoramic view of the lake and the colors that make it magical this time of year.
Lake Brophy County Park is located at County Road 82 and County Road 114 (Brophy Landing).
Lake Brophy Wayside Park is located on County Road 82 approximately 3.5 miles west of Alexandria.
Spruce Hill Park is located off County Road 5 in the northeast part of the county.
Kensington Rune Stone is in Solem Township. Travel west on Highway 27 to County Highway 103 and turn south.
