
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received a call yesterday, May 16th, from an individual who said they located a mortar, that was possibly live. The caller was at the Nimrod Bar. Law Enforcement arrived on the scene and found that some individuals had been at the Shell City Bridge with a metal detector when they located the bomb. They put it in their vehicle and brought it to the bar in Nimrod to show others.
The Crow Wing County Bomb Squad responded and took possession of the mortar. It’s unknown if the device is live or not and was estimated to be from the Korean War Era. It will be disposed of in a safe manor.
