
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, on January 7, 2023 at about 3:36 PM, Elisabeth Ogrim called to report her attached garage was on fire. Upon arrival to the scene, an officer with the Alexandria Police Department reported that the garage was fully engulfed with flames coming through the roof. The home received extensive fire and smoke damage but does not appear to be a total loss. The occupants of the home were able to escape along with their pets and were not injured but medics were called to the scene as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is suspected to be from a wood stove in the garage, but is under investigation. The American Red Cross was called to assist the victims. Responding to the fire was the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Alexandria Police Department,
Alexandria Fire Department, Garfield Fire Department, and North Ambulance.
