Garbage Truck Catches Fire at Winery

Yesterday afternoon, June 22nd, a garbage truck caught fire while out at Carlos Creek Winery. Thankfully, no one was injured.  Alexandria Fire Chief Jeff Karrow said that the driver smelled smoke and saw flames. The fire started in the engine cab compartment.  The truck is a total loss, approximately $200,000 worth of damages. Alexandria fire department was on scene for an hour and used 3000 gallons of water. Karrow says, “We hooked direct from tender (an apparatus that transports water from a source to the fire) to engine for water supply.”
