Our neighbors in Pope County Minnesota are hurting big time right now. Yesterday evening, three law enforcement officers in Pope County responded to a domestic violence call and were met with gunfire. Two deputies and a city police officer were shot. Pope County Deputy Joshua Owen was shot and killed in the incident. It was also his birthday. The other officers shot are expected to survive.

Owen’s father stated, “I’m numb at this moment. Josh came into this world April 15, 1979. And on this day was taken from us. Rest easy my son.”

Last night, someone in a domestic violence situation called for help, and these brave officers responded to answer that call for help and Deputy Joshua Owen paid the ultimate price. Rest in eternal peace Deputy Owen.

The utmost condolences go out to the Pope County community and the families of Deputy Owen and two other officers shot. Pope County MN Sheriff’s Office Starbuck Police Department.
