Barrett, Minn. – A series of three silvopasture field days hosted by the Sustainable Farming Association (SFA) will begin on Tuesday, August 9 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Lakeside Prairie Farm in Barrett, Minnesota.
“These field days present unique opportunities to explore various approaches to silvopasture establishment, grazing management, and oak savanna and woodland treatment,” says Tyler Carlson, SFA’s Silvopasture & Agroforestry Project Lead.
Bryan and Jessie Simon raise grass-fed beef at Lakeside Prairie Farm. Off-farm, Bryan also does prescribed grazing work with goats. The field day will feature a tour of the operation and focus on using grazing goats to remove invasive species and restore oak savanna. Funding, technical assistance programs, and the general economics of silvopasture will also be part of the discussion.
This event is free to attend and lunch is provided. Registration is required, no walkups. Register at www.sfa-mn.org/silvopasture-agroforestry.
Location: Lakeside Prairie Farm. 20503 180th Ave. Barrett, MN 56311
