The Biggest Wildlife Bill in 50 Years is Poised to Pass – With Bipartisan Support

Alarm bells are ringing for America’s wildlife. More than a third of our species are considered vulnerable. For example:

  • The iconic monarch butterfly was recently declared endangered
  • There are three billion fewer birds in our skies today than 50 years ago.
  • Nearly forty percent of freshwater fish face an elevated risk of extinction.

The good news is that members of Congress – on both sides of the aisle – are backing a bill that will help. The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act will dedicate $1.4 billion annually to locally-led efforts that would help 12,000 species nationwide.

The bill has already passed the House and could get a vote Senate in the coming weeks. With more than 40 cosponsors, the bill is in a strong position.
