An Alexandria woman posted a sweet message online after a teenager touched her heart right before Thanksgiving.
She wrote; “Yesterday after school, I took my kids to the Humane Society just for a visit. There was a teen girl in the cat room holding a cat. I asked her if she was there to get a cat or just to visit. She responded that she visits every week. She then explained how she could barely wait to turn 18 (Sunday, I think) so she could finally volunteer at the Humane Society. What an amazing young person. I don’t know you, but I am so proud of you!! (P.S. Happy birthday!!) This beautiful person is our future. ❤️❤️❤️
I wanted to share this and praise the young people in our community. Too often they are judged harshly. It’s not easy being a teen. Let’s do more building up and less knocking down of our young people. Because I know several amazing young people and they deserve support.”
