
On Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 at approximately 10:28 am, officers from the Alexandria Police Department were called to an assault in the 800 Block of Kenwood St. The assault was reported as a male party was stabbed and was now outside the residence. Officers arrived
and made contact with victim who was treated by North Ambulance and later transported to Alomere Emergency room with non-life-threatening injuries. It has been confirmed that the victim was stabbed by a knife. The suspect and victim knew each other. Officers made
contact with the suspect, Derrick Thorpe, 28, of Alexandria, and he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the custody of the Douglas County Jail and is being held for assault charges. This is an isolated event and there is no risk to the public’s safety. Thorpe has been charged with 2nd Degree Assault with intent of bodily harm with a deadly weapon. He could be facing up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
