In the wake of a deadly shooting at a rental property in the San Francisco Bay Area, Airbnb is introducing new rules to deal with parties and nuisance guests. The Los Angeles Times reports that Airbnb announced the rules on Thursday, after five people were killed in Orinda, California on Halloween during an unauthorized party at an Airbnb property. One new regulation bans “open invite” parties at all of its accommodations. In addition, there will be new guest behavior rules, including first warnings for excessive noise, unauthorized guests, unauthorized parking, unauthorized smoking, and excessive messiness. Further incidents will result in suspension of the account or removal. Airbnb has upwards of seven million listings.
