27-year-old Sauk Centre man arrested after standoff involving a child

On Sunday, Sauk Centre officers received a call from a woman, saying that she had been assaulted by her husband earlier that the morning.

Authorities say the 27-year-old man, Ryan Kellen was making threatening statements, and there was also a 9-year-old child inside the house with him.

Authorities negotiated with Kellen during a standoff before the 9-year-old was released from the house. Kellen fired one shot out of the residence, but no one was injured. A couple hours later officers were able to arrest Kellen without anyone getting hurt.

Kellen was later transported to Stearns County Jail and booked on charges of terroristic threats, domestic assault and assault.

The woman and child were not hurt.

Assisting were the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Melrose Police Department, Belgrade Police Department, Stearns County SWAT, St. Cloud SWAT, Minnesota State Patrol and MN DNR Enforcement Division, Sauk Centre Fire and Ambulance.
